how the futurity works
SHOW GIRLS HEIFER FUTURITY RULES, 2020-2021
1. Only heifers registered with the Show Girls Heifer Futurity are eligible to compete for the year end cash and prizes.
2. Heifers can be registered by the owner or by the breeder and will be identified by a tag or legible tattoo.
3. All heifers must be born after August 1, 2019, and be officially calf hood brucellosis vaccinated.
4. The registered owner is the only participant that can show or accumulate points for that heifer. Exceptions can be made if an owner has more than one heifer in a class or a grand drive.
5. All points are awarded per heifer, not per showman.
6. Age requirements for showmen are 6 to 21 years old. Age is considered at the beginning of the futurity, RMJSS kick off Show.
7. There will be no maximum number of entries per exhibitor.
8. Heifers will be shown by age and may be shown with all breeds showing against each other.
9. Heifers need not be registered with a Breed Association to show, only registered with the Futurity, however to be eligible for the breed championship the heifer must be registered within its respective breed and provide the futurity with the registration number.
10. The three (3) breeds with the most entries will have their own breed champions along with a commercial and an “All Other Registered Breeds” breed champion.
11. Registrations with the Futurity must include birth date, breeder, and registration breed if applicable. Breed Registration papers must be presented with your finale entry to qualify for Breed Champions. Non-registered animals will be considered a commercial entry.
12. In the event of death or injury of a registered heifer, substitutions will be allowed if approved by the Show Girl’s Board of Directors and the substitute heifer meets all eligibility requirements.
13. Registration fees are $100 per heifer. This money will be used for Breed Champions and Overall Champion prizes and pay out at the finale. Fees must be paid upon registration
14. Registrations will be taken up to the Breeder’s Cup Show on February 20, 2021. Late registrations at $200 will be accepted until the Aggie Classic Show on April 10, 2021..
15. NO HEIFERS WILL BE AWARDED POINTS UNTIL REGISTRATIONS ARE COMPLETED AND ARE PAID IN FULL. YOU MUST ENTER THE FUTURITY BEFORE ANY SHOW POINTS YOU ACCUMULATE WILL COUNT.
16. Show Girls Heifer Futurity will work closely with the Rocky Mountain Jackpot Show Series but is not a part of that organization. All points for this futurity will be tallied separately and published on the Futurity website www.sgfuturity.com
17. Points can be earned beginning with the RMJSS kick off show on November 20, 2020, and will continue through the Heifer Futurity Finale on or about Friday November 19, 2021.
18. The futurity will use the RMJSS point system.
1. Heifers can receive points from any show
2. Additional points will be given for:
Grand Champion Overall: 15 points
Reserve Champion Overall: 10 points
Division/Breed Champion: 5 points
Reserve Division/Breed Champion: 3 points
At the Finale, all points will be doubled, class placing, Breed Champions, and Grand and Reserve Overall Champions.
19. There is no limit to the points that can be earned per heifer, however you may only count your top five shows.
20. There will be no market heifer class at the finale, but market heifer class points can be used from other shows. Market show and breeding show will be considered two separate shows toward your five maximum
21. Classes will be determined by the individual jackpots.
22. Health requirements are subject to individual show management.
23. Any unethical treatment of animals will result in dismissal from the show and possibly from the futurity.
24. All heifers must be well halter broke and fit for show. Unmanageable cattle will be dismissed by the judge.
25. Each registered owner must assume all liability in case of death or injury to his/her animal and any injury or death incurred by his/her animal.
26. The Show Girls Futurity will not and cannot be held responsible for any injury or harm to person or animal.
27. The Show Girls Futurity is not responsible for any theft of property.
28. Participants must conduct themselves in a respectful manner and will not be allowed to abuse, strike, kick, or mistreat heifers.
29. Illegal substances or non-food supplements should not be used to prepare heifers for show.
30. Appropriate Show dress is required at the Finale.
